We had some friends in from out of town and Musso & Frank Grill was highly recommended to them so we decided to try it. Parking in LA is always iffy but the restaurant has its own valet lot right behind the restaurant. I was afraid it might be full when we got there at 7pm but to our surprise the lot was 90% empty. When we left at 10:30pm it was jam packed with a lot of double-parked cars but there was no problem getting out quickly. When you walk in from the rear of the restaurant there is a great lively ambiance. Thin aisles and lots of waiters roaming around in their red jackets. It is noisy but in a good way that just adds to the atmosphere. We had a nice cozy booth that was perfect. Our waiter Miguel was awesome. He didn't rush us at all even though we hadn't seen our out of town friends for a few years and were talking non-stop for quite a while before even looking at the menu to order anything. We started with cocktails and my Negroni was excellent. My girlfriend had the Amelia which was great and much to our surprise it came with a carafe which contained a second serving. We split a wedge salad for our starter and the presentation was great with two plates with an identical half size wedge salad instead of a regular wedge salad just cut in half and thrown on the plate. My ribeye steak was massive and cooked to perfection. It's not on the menu but I asked if they could melt some Gorgonzola cheese on top and they were happy to oblige. I ordered a side of Bearnaise sauce but barely even used it because the steak was so good on it's own. My girlfriend had the Gnocchi Gorgonzola which she loved although the serving was a little small. For sides we had the grilled broccoli which had a tasty glaze of some sort on it and the Lyonnaise potatoes which were good but barely touched. The only thing that was a little disappointing were the desserts. I ordered the chocolate mousse cake and she got the torten. They looked amazing when they were put down on the table but after a few bites, it seemed like they had been in the refrigerator all day and not super fresh. Overall, everything was great and we would definitely return again.

I have always wanted to try legendary Musso & Frank and we finally decided to visit. Everything about the dining experience felt classic old Hollywood and elegant. We were lucky enough to be seated in a slightly more private booth, which gave our dinner an intimate feel. The food was absolutely delicious and presented beautifully. Service was also amazing and made it even more special. Some people may feel that considering the restaurant is in the heart of busy Hollywood, it might be overly touristy, however we had an amazing time and felt like we were transported back to the 1930's. Definitely recommend! Side note: the truffle mac n cheese is a must!

We have been wanting to try this place out for quite some time. One of the true classic restaurants in all of Los Angeles, established since 1919 this is billed as the "oldest" restaurant in LA. Very classic restaurant vibe and decor. Lots of individual booth tables as well as a countertop bar style seating too! The service and staff at this restaurant is AMAZING! Super attentive and friendly, yet not intrusive or overbearing. Food was very good and solid. The menu is quite large and offers plenty of variety, as well as daily specials. What we ordered: 1. Appetizer: Meatballs and Polenta. Very tasty and prepared well. Only wish it had more than 3 meatballs since we were a party of four. 2. Ribeye cap steak: ordered medium rare. Cooked perfectly as evident by the pictures. This cut is not too common so it's a treat to find here. Super tender and full of beefy flavor at the same time. 3. New York Strip steak: ordered medium. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Great choice if you enjoy the taste of a more "beefy" leaner cut. 4. Chicken parmigiana: classically prepared and tasty. This isn't your typical "Olive Garden" fast casual version! 5. Fettuccine Alfredo: billed as an "original" version of this dish, which makes you have pretty high expectations! Again...this isn't some Olive Garden variety, this was very rich, creamy, Alfredo sauce which you can clearly discern the cheesy goodness! Maybe a bit salty for some people, so just prepare for that. The fettuccine tasted freshly made and was al dente in texture. We actually ordered this to serve as a "side dish" with our meal. Eating a whole plate would've been a lot. 6. Grilled broccolini w/ hollandaise sauce: nicely cooked with the grill taste 7. Sautéed mushrooms: great accompaniment for the steaks 8. Lyonnaise potatoes: a very nice alternative to the typical mashed potatoes or baked potatoes or au gratin varieties. Sounds weird, but ask for a little ketchup on the side with these. Goes so well with the ketchup. Plus the tartness of the ketchup can break up the heaviness with the other dishes We were also dining here this evening to celebrate our son's 18th birthday. We brought our own cake to celebrate and the staff was nice enough to store our cake until the end and even brought it out with candles to blow out and take pictures before taking it back to the kitchen to cut into slices for us! They did not charge us for any cake cutting fees which was a nice surprise and just great service gesture! This alone makes me want to highly recommend coming here! Overall, a very excellent dining experience! We don't travel too often to that part of LA or Hollywood, so dealing with the traffic to get there wasn't fun. However, the dining experience made up for that!

Going to Musso & Frank is like time travelling to another era. There's a formality to their interiors with the wood paneling and heavily upholstered booths which all feels very private..... you're somewhere between 1950s to 70s. The menu is "old fashioned" steakhouse menu and their portions are hearty. Really quite a treat, especially if you actually were around during that era. Their French onion soup is lovely, their filet mignon is very good - you get to choose a sauce to go with it and of course in keeping with the time, I chose Bernaise sauce with was quite good. My friend ordered prime rib - and it was 18oz!!! A solid block of meat - so buyer beware that is serious protein intake!!! Of course they have a full bar - and what speaks more of this era than a good dry martini! Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. He also knew how to handle a guest who was becoming difficult with her order and he very gracefully apeaced her. There is a large valet parking lot at the back. It is nearly impossible to find parking on Hollywood Blvd or adjoining streets. For $14 you have peace of mind and no driving around

Finally came to check out this old Hollywood establishment!! Loved the decor and vibes reminds me of New York. From hosts to servers to kitchen crew, everyone is so warm and funny made us felt very welcomed. Definitely need to reserve ahead because I overheard they were all booked out and I assume that happens every night. For food we got: - Mussel's special salad. Romaine and avocado in a creamy dressing. Delicious yet light. - hubby got sand dab and loved it. Very flavorful I wish portion was a bit bigger - I got ribeye cap as many reviews recommended. Did not disappoint! Was so tender and juicy. Love the jus too. - Alfredo. They were so kind and split in two without us even asking. I gotta say I understand this is a classic and cult favorite but I guess just not for me. Still good but I wouldn't order it again as I enjoyed the other entrees much more. - New York cheese cake for dessert. This was the highlight of the night!! Our server said best NY cheesecake on the west coast and I was skeptical! But he was right!! It was so creamy and cheesy. Not overly sweet. I almost ate the whole thing by myself! Drinks: I gotta try the classic dirty martini and hubby old fashioned. Both were great and the martini came with a mini carafe with extra for refill later so cute!

Are you into experiencing what Old Hollywood had back then? Are you a person with an appetite? Are you looking for a place to eat where 6 foot walls surround many of the booths to create private tables that separate your reservation from the walk-ins that are seated at the counter or maybe are you a person that enjoys a drink at an old, cool-looking, bar? Then here's a spot that you definitely might try once. We had steak, prime rib and a side of sautéed mushrooms. They were big-appetite portions and, if we ordered another side, could have easily fed 4 normal people. Some may brag that they can eat 14-18oz steaks easily. It's not a competition. That's not normal. Order this and you'll take home leftovers for your fried rice tomorrow. Protip: If you're getting dessert lean away from the flannel cake. They're ok but it's a bit like ordering flat crepe-like pancakes.
